Autonomatic visit SCIRIA

The Autonomatic team presented their work at a SCIRIA (Sensory Computer Interface Research & Innovation in the Arts) organised research symposium at Camberwell College of Arts on the 29^th January. Other presenters included, Steve Brown, from the Royal College of Art, discussing his PhD work entitled; ‘The Physicality of Print and the Role of Interpretative Mediation Within Applied Art Screen printing Practice’, and Andrew Folan, a Lecturer at National College of Art & Design, Dublin  who discussed his research using CAT scanning to create virtual forms.

 

The aim of the symposium was to introduce our work to this research group and other invited guests, discuss shared interests and begin to develop possible collaborative projects. Our presentation was well received with some lively debate focused on Justin’s Automake project and his challenge to the existing roles and relationships between designers and consumers.  SCIRIA will be paying a return visit to Autonomatic in April in which we hope to co-develop some specific research projects.

 

SCIRIA is an interdisciplinary collaborative group of arts and science researchers.
